I'm Michelle Lambert and this is my first year as the school social worker at C. J. Sullivan Elementary. I am originally from downstate Michigan, but have lived most of my life in Hancock. I have a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work (LMSW) from Michigan State University and a BS from Michigan Tech. I am married to Mark and we have two children. I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to getting to know students and being a part of the elementary team!

Greetings. My name is John Nawrot. I'm excited to be serving as the principal of C.J. Sullivan Elementary School. Until the summer of 2014, I was a lifelong resident of West Central Lower Michigan, but spent most of my life in and around Big Rapids, Michigan. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Ferris State University and a Master's in Educational Leadership from Grand Valley State University.

I made the move to L'Anse with my wife Amy, my daughters Katelynne and Kyleigh, and my son Thaddeus. As a family, we have greatly enjoyed viewing the local sites, such as Silver Mountain, Little Mountain, Canyon Falls, and Lower Silver Falls and getting to know the fantastic people of this community.

It is my sincere desire to work diligently with teachers, parents, and the community to provide the students of L'Anse Area Schools with a first rate educational experience. I was born and raised in L'Anse and I'm a 2004 graduate of L'Anse Area Schools. For the past 6 years I was employed by BHK Great Explorations Program as Instructor/Tutor Coordinator. In 2010, I began by career at L'Anse Area Schools as a Special Education Aide and then in 2011 I was a Library Aide for two years. My hobbies are camping, reading, baking and spending time with my husband and our two children.

Randy Cadeau is currently teaching in the Title 1 program. He lives in the Village of L'Anse. He is married to Laura, and they have three daughters who have all graduated from L'Anse Area Schools and more recently college. Mr. Cadeau has been an administrator and/or teacher in the Baraga County Schools since 1976, and particularly in the L'Anse Area Schools since 1998. He has a Bachelor's Degree from NMU with majors in Science and Math, along with a Masters Degree in Elementary Education.

My name is Rachel Cox. I started teaching third grade at L'Anse Area Schools in 2010. I graduated from Ferris State University in 2005. I am currently working on my Master's in Special Education. In my spare time I enjoy running, spending time with my friends and family, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Hello! My name is Kristin Marczak. I am starting my eighth year at L’Anse School District. I am very fortunate to be apart of a great staff and be able to work with the best students!

I attended Northern Michigan University where I received my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education in December 2006. I started my career at C.J. Sullivan in the fall of 2007. I started teaching kindergarten, but moved to first grade in the middle of my second year. I have been in first grade ever since.

I currently reside in L’Anse with my husband Tim and our son Landon and our daughter Avery. Besides teaching, I enjoy sports, running, and being with my family.

My name is Emily Maxson and I am a 2nd grade teacher. I began my teaching career at C.J. Sullivan Elementary School in 2010. I am originally from Kingsford, Michigan, where I graduated from high school in 2004. I hold a Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education and also a Masters in Education with a focus on being a Reading Specialist, from Northern Michigan University. I am part of the 1:1 technology initiative at our school and my 2nd grade classroom currently has Chromebooks. I LOVE technology, especially using it in my classroom to help students enjoy learning!

In my spare time I like to hunt, go berry picking and hang out with my husband, daughter, and huge golden retriever named Fluke. We are usually out at camp or on a road trip adventure.

Brian Perry is a 4th grade teacher at C.J. Sullivan Elementary School. During switch time Mr. Perry teaches writing and math. Mr. Perry graduated from Grand Valley State University Honors College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and an Elementary Education minor. He earned his Masters Degree in Education Administration at Northern Michigan University in May 2014. Mr. Perry taught 6th grade at Stangel Elementary in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, before coming to L'Anse. The '15-16 school year will be Mr. Perry's 9th year in L'Anse.

Aaron Poniatowski started teaching at L'Anse in the fall of 2005. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music Education (2005) and a Masters in Music Education (2012). Aaron's primary instrument is the trumpet, but does play all woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments and is currently learning the guitar. She will be teaching K-5 General Music, Sixth grade beginning band, Junior High Band (grades 7 and 8), Senior High Band, and Yearbook this year. She is also the director of the Marching and Pep Band for the football and basketball games and the Senior Class Advisor. Aaron lives in L'Anse with her son James. She enjoys playing trumpet with the Keweenaw Symphony Orchestra, listening to live music, walking, and spending time with her son.

Hi! I am Anne Schumer and I began teaching third grade at L'Anse Area Schools in the fall of 2010. Prior to that, I was the principal of Sacred Heart School in L'Anse for five years. My teaching experience includes working in Curtis and South Lyon, Michigan and Pine City, Minnesota. I have taught first, third, and fourth grade, Title I, and a combination class of fifth and sixth grade. I grew up near Skandia, south of Marquette and graduated from Gwinn High School. I received my degree in Elementary Education and my Masters degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Northern Michigan University. In my free time, I enjoy reading, baking, and being outdoors in all seasons with my husband and my dog.

Having grown up in Ontonagon, I was excited to become a teacher for L'Anse Area Schools in 1996! I had just graduated with honors with my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education having majored in math and minored in science. While I have spent time as a middle school teacher, most of my career has been spent teaching first-graders! I have since attained a Master of Arts in Education with my courses focusing on language arts. As my students may tell you, I love reading and cannot name just one favorite book! When I am not at school, I love to spend time with my husband, Tim, our daughter, Aurora, and our three spoiled dogs! We love to enjoy our beautiful Lake Superior and all that our area has to offer in the summer. In the winter, you might find us snowshoeing or watching the Huskies play hockey! I am excited to be teaching Kindergarten here at C.J. Sullivan; I began my time here as a substitute and was hired as a full-time teacher in 2010. It is awesome watching students grow and change as they enjoy their first year at "the big school."

I'm originally from Harrison, Michigan and moved to the U.P. in 2002 to attend Northern Michigan University. At NMU, I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with Minors in Mathematics and Science.
I am currently pursuing my Masters be be a Reading Specialist.

My name is Helen Stenvig. I live in Pelkie with my husband, John, and beagles Ole and Lena. We have three grown children, all graduates of MTU in Houghton. I graduated from MTU with a degree in Biology, and then worked for several agencies, including the MI DNR Fisheries Division. Later, I returned to school at NMU and received my elementary teaching certificate. I began teaching at L’Anse and am currently the 5th grade Science teacher and Lead LSSI (Lake Superior Stewardship Initiative) teacher. I am a great advocate for environmental and outdoor education. I enjoy gardening, camping, snowshoeing, fishing, (really most anything outdoors) and spending time with family.

Hello! I teach 5th-grade at C.J. Sullivan Elementary School. I grew up in the Detroit area and "discovered" the Upper Peninsula when I attended Northern Michigan University. Not a day goes by that I don't appreciate the beauty of this area, the closeness of our community, and the fact that I don't have to wait ten minutes to turn left at an intersection. I enjoy reading and spending time at home with my husband and two young daughters.

I began my teaching career 10 years ago as a second grade teacher at C.J Sullivan Elementary school. I then moved to fourth grade for one year, and for the past 8 years, I’ve been teaching Elementary Physical Education. Along with teaching, I am also the Athletic Director for L’Anse High School.
I was born and raised here in L'Anse, MI, and graduated from L'Anse High School in 1999. I attended Northland College in Ashland, WI, and graduated in 2004 with a major in Elementary Education and Physical Education for grades K-12.

I am Ariane Yoder and I am one of the Kindergarten teachers. I love teaching Kindergarten because we are so busy each day learning new things! It is so rewarding to teach students to become readers, writers, and thinkers! Kindergarten students come to the "big" school with energy and a joy for learning.
