WELCOME TO L'ANSE HIGH
SCHOOL
L'Anse High School is a full time High School. We offer
a well-rounded education that includes many advanced
courses in Math, English, and Science.
The total education program offers other classes such as
Physical Education, Music, Computer Science, Spanish,
Industrial Arts, Computer Drafting, Distance Learning
and other Technology Classes offered through the Copper
Country Intermediate School. Also, students have dueled
enrolled with some of the local colleges.
The school offers many other extracurricular activities.
Some of them are Youth in Government, VICA, SADD,
Yearbook, sport teams, Drama Club, Drivers Education and
Destination Imagination.
We have full counseling available for both academic and
personal attention if needed.
We have met the yearly adequate progress and received a
B for our State Grade for the 2003-2004 school year. Our
students take the MEAP tests and we also have testing
for grades 9-11 from the Terra Nova testing company.
Our Special Education Department is a very academic
department and offers many services to meet the
student's needs. Regular testing and IEPs are held in
compliance with Federal and State Mandates.
The No Child Left Behind and Michigan Yes! Mandates have
been and will continue to be a challenge for the school.
We have met all mandates at this time and will be in
compliance by the year 2007.
The teaching staff and students of L'Anse Area schools
are some of the finest people that anyone would like to
meet. I am very proud to be the Principal of L'Anse High
Schools. I am proud to say that I would put both staff
and students against any school district and they would
be winners. Mutual respect will go a long way in life,
and both staff and students have this among their
qualities.
Last, but not least, the community of L'Anse High
School, the parents and members of the community are a
very supportive group. They are proud of their school
and the community they live in.
