CARRIE MEYER, Principal
It is my pleasure to be at L'Anse High School. I am looking forward to this
new phase of my life and becoming part of the L'Anse community.
I was born in Wakefield, Michigan and was raised in Ishpeming, Michigan. I
attended the NICE Community School District where I graduated from Westwood High
School. I went on to earn my Bachelors degree from Northland College in Ashland,
Wisconsin in Secondary Education with a Mathematics Major. My first teaching
position was at Capac Community Schools where I taught in the alternative
education program. After one year, I was moved to the High School where I taught
the grade eight mathematics classes for four years. While living and teaching
downstate of Michigan, I earned my Master Degree from Grand Valley State
University in Educational Leadership. After five years of teaching at Capac, I
was hired by the Wakefield School District to teach the high school math classes
which included: Into to Algebra, Into to Geometry, Algebra I, Geometry, Advanced
Algebra, and Pre Calculus. In the spring of 2005, I was hired by the Wakefield-Marenisco
School District as the K-12 principal. This first year at L'Anse High School
will be my 13th year in education and 5th year as an administrator. I am
presently working on my Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership
from Northern Michigan University. My expected graduation date is May of 2010.
My hobbies include walking, running, water skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling,
and spending time with my two children Devon and Jocelynn.
In the short amount of time that I have spent in L'Anse and at the High School
it is very evident that this community is very close nit and has pride in their
town and school. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to build my future in
such a community.
I look forward to meeting students, parents, and community members over the
year. Please feel free to stop by or call me at 906.524.6122.
Sincerely,
Carrie Meyer
