Hi, Hola! my name is Holly Belanger and this is my
ninth year in teaching. I am a CMU and Wayne State graduate. I am currently
teaching Spanish to middle and high school students. I am also certified to
teach French. I have studied in Quebec, Mexico and Spain. I have also traveled
to France and Switzerland. I enjoy bike riding, reading, traveling, attending
church, and eating out. I am happily married and live in L'Anse. |

Linda Cooley is the L'Anse School/ Public Librarian.
She provides library time for elementary classes each week, manages the
elementary and high school/public libraries, and teaches one eighth grade
Library Science class. She is a graduate of Central Michigan University and a
frequent book reviewer and ForeSight author for ForeWord Magazine. |

I am currently in my 6th year in the middle school.
I am the seventh and eigth grade science teacher. I coach cross country in the
fall and tract in the spring. I've never been more excited for a school year...

Graduated NMU in 2005 and am in my first year of
teaching. I teach middle and high school wood shop and high school Gym. I also
did my student teaching at L'Anse in the spring of 2005. Enjoy being active and
also enjoy the outdoors. I really enjoy the subject areas in which I teach.
Lastly, I plan on starting my masters next year. |

Brian Perry is the 6th grade English teacher at
L'Anse Middle School. His classes include English, Language Arts Lab, and
Creative Writing. Mr. Perry graduated from Grand Valley State University Honors
College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and an Elementary
Education minor. He taught 6th grade at Stangel Elementary in Manitowoc,
Wisconsin last year. Mr. Perry loves sports and recommends books by Jacqueline
Woodson. |

This will be my first year teaching at L'Anse. I
graduated from Central Michigan University May 2005 with a Bachelor of Music
Education. My primary instrument is the trumpet, but I do play all instruments.
I will be teaching K-5 elementary music and 5th grade band, also the middle
school bands and the high school band. I am also the director of the marching
band and the Pep band for the football and basketball games. I come from
downstate in a city called Pinconning and I do have family in Marquette as well.

Jennifer Rubin is a middle and high school computer
and technology instructor. She teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Computers, 9th
grade Computer Applications, and Designing for Tomorrow (7th grade). She is
originally from the Iron Mountain area and graduated from Michigan Tech
University. Upon graduating, she worked in the business field for a few years in
various capacities including Marketing, Human Resources, Sales, and
Entrepreneurship. She is now living in the Houghton area with her husband. |

Originally from Pennsylvania but have lived in the UP for 23 years with my husband and three children. This year I am teaching 8th grade Science. I have taught the Medical Aide class for the past 11 years and middle school Reading/Seminar and Health in other years. I graduated from Gannon University, Pennsylvania, with my Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Secondary Teaching Certificate. Several years later I graduated from Gogebic Community College, Ironwood, with an Associate Degree in Nursing and worked in hospitals and home health agencies prior to retuning to teaching. I attended Northern Michigan University and earned my Masters of Arts in Education in 2001. I teach CPR/First Aide to staff and students and have been involved in Scouting for 12 years. |

Hello and welcome! This year I'm teaching Civics 7
and 10, American History 8, and Current Events 8. Here's a little bit about my
background:
I hold a Bachelor's degree (1977) from Northern Michigan University, and I have
54 post-graduate credit hours from NMU, Central Michigan University, Western
Michigan University, and Eastern Michigan University. I'm certified in the State
of Michigan in Social Studies grades 7-12 and Music Education grades k-12.
Courses I've taught over my career are Band, grades 5-12; Choir, grades 9-12;
Music Appreciation, grades 9-12; General Music, grades k-6; Government and
Economics, grade 10; World History, grade 11; World Geography, grades 6 and 7;
and Michigan History, Civics, and English, grade 7.
In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I was the L'Anse Coordinator for
Destination Imagination from 2003-2007, and coached DI (and OM) teams for many
years. When I was teaching band, I served at various times as Secretary, Vice
President, and President for District 14 of the Michigan School Band and
Orchestra Association. I'm also active in the L'Anse Athletic Boosters,
currently serving as Treasurer, and was the advisor to the L'Anse Student
Council from 1992-2005.
My wife, Betty, and I have lived in L'Anse for the past 22 years. We have been
blessed with five children - four L'Anse grads and one L'Anse Senior - and four
grandchildren. I've been teaching in the public schools of Michigan and
Wisconsin since 1977, and I am currently enjoying my 23rd year with the L'Anse
Area Schools. |

Bill Valima currently
teaches 7th grade Social Studes, 8th grade Careers, 8th
grade American History and 11th grade World History. He
also is co-advisor for L'Anse Youth In Government,
Middle School Trach Coach and a Certified Driver
Education Instructor. Bill graduated from Northern
Michigan University in 2001 with a B/S in Secondary
Education with a major in history and a minor in
political science. Prior to teaching in L'Anse he taught
for 2 years in Ishpeming. Bill is currently working
towards his MAE in Learning Disabilities. In his free
time he enjoys spending time with his wife (Lori) and
daughters (Josie & Sophie) as well as hunting, fishing,
going to camp, reading and watching high school and

Hi, I am Denise Wilder. This is my 8th year at
L'Anse Area Schools. I received a B.S. in mathematics from Alma College in 1985
and an M.A. in curriculum & instruction from Andrews University in 1989. I have
previously taught M.S. and H.S. mathematics in South Haven, Lawton & Bangor,
Michigan. I also worked as a Curriculum Specialist for Southwestern Michigan
Community College. I am married and have 3 children. I am proud to be a member
of the L'Anse staff and community. My hobbies include volleyball and softball.
